My 1995 gmc sonomas hazard lights are always on and there is a clicking noise under the steering colum that clicks with the hazard lights right as soon as the battery is connected and my truck won't even try to start and I know that it's not the alarm system because it's been disconnected for years and I also know the key is in the off position and the truck doesn't have any remotes, I also know that the starter is screwed because I took it out and tested it and it doesn't work at all. so if you have any other suggestions please help because I have to get my truck running good so I can put it on the road.

try unplugging the turn signal harness " the flashers go through the same circuitry as the signals ".If the flashers wont switch off the right way at the button on the column it may be broken into the on position .unplugging the harness will stop the flashers but it also stops your signals from working as well .you may need a signal harness from an auto parts or dealership. instructions for removal are in a book on the GMC SONOMA at most auto stores .The starter has nothing to do with your flasher problem howeaver you do need to make sure not to ground any of the wiring that is a live hot .And you may want to change the starter relay as well .

ummm...ok try turning off the emergency flashers....normally a push pull switch near the ignition key. If it's not there then on top of the steering column a push button switch. The noise you are hearing under the dash is the flasher switch working. and you say your starter is junk so replace it...this should solve your problem

More than likely you have a short causing the four ways to come on and stay on. The starter is no big deal, They're designed to burn out so GM can continue to make money off you after the $30,000 sale! Gee, the CEO has to eat too and keep a roof over his head. What did you expect-life time parts?

this clicking noise is your turn signal and hazard flasher units this is normal , sounds to me like you have a faulty hazard switch
