in the second problem 3 is an exponent before the square root sign and the other numbers are inside the square root sign

Problem 1:

√x³=27
x³=729
x=9

Problem 2:

The 3 is not an exponent, and the radical is not a square root. The 3 indicates that you are taking the cube root. Unfortunately, the cube root symbol won't show up here, so I'll have to just denote it by cbrt. Thus you would start by cubing both sides:

cbrt(x²)=9
x²=729
x=±27
