Look up Thomas's Myspace editor. It's the best I found out.

I like to use my own artwork as a background for my myspace page. But you can also use photos or images you find online, etc. So this is what I do:
Either I scan my picture, (if it's small enough to fit my scanner) or I take a photo of it and upload it to my computer. I save either type to my photo editor. Then I can crop and modify color, etc.
Next I go to Imageshack.com to upload and get a code. I copy the code that says "direct link to image".
Next I go to a layout generator page. Best ones I've found are Thomas' myspace editor, or nuclearcentury.com. Both of these let you preview what your profile will look like before you paste it into your page.
I paste the code that I copied from imageshack into the background image URL box. Then I select text fonts, table options, etc. I preview and keep changing til I like the way my lettering looks on my background. Sometimes it takes a while to get it right.....so it shows up well against your background colors.
When I'm satisfied, I copy the whole code and paste it into the About Me section on my profile edit page. (Be sure to first take out any old code you have for a layout/background or things will not show up right.)
Et Voila!! my very own custom layout!!
