There are dozens of books on the topic and many different counting methods. Most books will present the same "Basic" method which is easy to learn and supposedly statistically valid. Many books also offer more advanced counting methods that they claim will tip the odds even more in your favor.

Here is my opinion based on reading about 5-10 books and playing a lot of BlackJack in Vegas:

No matter what counting system you use, the odds will ALWAYS be in the house's favor. Maybe these systems worked 20 years ago when they played games with 1 deck. But today most casinos use a "shoe" with about 10 decks in it and they reshuffle half way through. I think the casinos either write these books themselves to dupe people into thinking they can win, or they encourage others to write them. Go ahead and learn the basic strategy and at least you'll lose your money slower!

Good luck and have fun.

Each picture card..king,queen or jack, is worth 10. An ace is worth 1 or 11,your choice. The other cards are numbered

They are making it virtually impossible to count cards as using 10 decks cards, the odds are well in their favour, PLUS shuffling takes out counting anyway...

Maybe best way is to rely on **LUCK** to help you win along with knowing when to hold or get hit with another card...GOOD LUCK

2-6 = +1
7-9 = 0
10-A = -1

When your total gets high like +6 or higher then you want to bet more because it means that more tens are out there and there is a higher chance that you will get 2 tens and the dealer is also more likely to bust.
