So far they've traced it to a contaminated water supply. So far.
However, the sanitary conditions in the fields are not great, so it could easily be human contamination from uh, not having facilities to do your business. Remember the e.coli outbreak in schools in regards to strawberries years ago? That was traced to humans. So until the final verdict comes in, I can't say definitively.
