We sell only new, high quality, fine jewelry. Product is solid .925 Sterling Silver, and made by the finest craftsman using the latest manufacturing techniques.

We have over 285 positive feedbacks prasing this particular product, and no neutral or negative feedbacks until now. Asked buyer to withdraw comments, and she contends she can say anything she wants.

We contend that statements cast doubt on our product as to whether or not the product is actually .925 Sterling Silver, and whether the product is made to industry standards. These statements harm our business in the eyes of potential buyers, and we feel constitue libel. What do you think and why?

I believe she can say it, if that is her feeling. I see comments like that all the time on HSN or QVC's sites...I think you should post your rebuttal saying basically what you explained here. Have to offered her a refund in exchange for her removing her comments?

I dont know th e exact nature of the complaint but I too sell .925 silver and I do get some negative feedback from customers.
After some research,I determined that even with sterling ,some people will get a reaction to silver, discoloration and even some green traces from the oxidization of the small amount of copper in the .925.This is caused by their high PH level.(acid vs alkaline)Sometimes it is natural but quite often it is caused by the food in their diet.Namely lots of junk food

I have silver and it can look cheap fairly quickly from oxidization. It really is a high maintenance metal (most metals are, including gold which scuffs up).

I think you should add a section on care/cleaning and state the durability against scratches (especially if the iteam requires use like on a dining table). I think the customer would get the idea that the iteam requires care and would deflate criticism from those that aren't taking care of theri product.

Actually, Solid silver has a .925 STAMPED on the piece (just like 14K is stamped on gold pieces). If it's not stamped, it's fraud.....easy enough. It could be an overlay - so better make sure it says "solid" SS.

She is free to voice her opinion. She doesn't like your stuff, and you certainly can't force her to change how she feels.

In her opinion, your stuff is cheap and does not look real.

Libel would be if she said your stuff is made by underpaid child sex workers in a sweat shop (assuming its not).
