You could use those detergent capsules that you put directly into the drum, on top of the washing. This will save you from opening the drawer. If you don't mind not using fabric softener, then this is a good option (or use one of those detergents that claim to have softener built in).

No, but we are thinking of putting some on. The greatest thing about our cupboards is that we have two - count them - two lazy susans! Don't need handles for those!

Most of them do now. Took years to get them painted finally. Took a little while longer to get the knobs and pulls back on them. Still haven't got all them on either.
