I am looking to sell my house next year but I think there may be several things wrong with it. I am noticing small black dots on my ceiling from time to time. I am worried it might be mold. I also have some condensation in a couple of spots. I try to clean up the spots with bleach but in a few months they come back. Should I get this checked before trying to sell? Should I tell the real estate agent? I don't know who to call or how much it would cost to fix. Could it be that I need my roof replaced or worse?
Advice please!!

Your best bet is to call a home inspector that does mold testing and have them do an inspection and air sampling for you. This will determine the extent of the mold problem that you have and the lab will give you a coarse of action for mold remediation if necessary.

The spots are definately mold and they are caused by moisture being trapped in the house.

Again have the inspector do a complete inspection and he'll note if there are any leaks or cracks that could be letting moisture in. You spend a few hundred dollars, but that money is well spent when the time comes to list your home because instead of the buyer trying to nickle and dime your price, you'll have these issues fixed.

Yes, you should get this checked. Most likely it is because your
roof is leaking. You probably won't get as much money out of your
house without fixing it. After repairs are made to stop water from
leaking there is a product called kilz. You can buy it at any home
repair store it stops the stains from coming back. It is very good.
The mold can be very harmful to you. Check your newspaper or
phone book for roofing company. Hope this helps.

Consider what room the spots are in, is it the bathroom above the shower or the tub? If so the steam from the shower is the source. Buy some Kilz primer and apply, then repaint the ceiling. If these spots are elsewhere, your roof is leaking.

bleach it and then paint with a mildew proof paint. that should stop the mildew.
if you are going to sell, don't worry about fixing things, let the new owner worry about it.
