If you haven't read it, here is the Second Amendment.
A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
It is a personal choice in the USA, unlike almost every other nation on the planet.

The right to bear arms ( guns) is in the Bill of Rights, written by the founding fathers of our country. Back then, threats of British invasion on US soil were real, so the right to keep a defensive weapon in your home was approved. Guns don't kill anyway, people do.

You might need one for self-defense against robbers or rapists or someone who forcibly enters the house. But it should be in a high or hidden place and have a lock on it to keep it away from children. The other reason might be if you go hunting. We have three hunting guns (not loaded), but I don't like guns myself.

I'm rather well armed myself, here in the great stat of M.D. gun control means a tight group of shots. Guns are a part of our rights in this country and that will never change!

The very phrasing of your questions leads me to think you are unclear on how things work in a free society. In a free society laws don't "allow" people to do things, but rather they disallow people to do things. In other words, unless there is a law against it, it's legal. The opposite is fascism, where something is assumed to be illegal unless express permission is granted by The State.

More people are killed or injured by cars, or skate boards, or legal drugs. And, guns don't contribute to global warming.
Many more people are saved from injury or death each year by guns than are hurt by them.
If you don't like them, don't buy one, just stay out of my business.

it is our fundamental right to protect our families and properties. unfortunately the anti-gun movement is in la la land. if the government takes away our right to bear arms the law abiding citizens will be left defenseless and the criminals will still have guns and now they will know we dont have them. law abiding citizen know how to store and properly use their weapons. its the criminals that will continue to have guns and continue to break the law regardless of what laws are passed. if changes are to happen there needs to be stricter penalties on gun related crime. one strike, thats it!!!!
