All I see is bad things about Myspace. They are even having workshops for parent about Myspace, and how to protect your children from it. Why hasent it been shut down if its that dangerous?

because MYSPACE isn't the bad thing! The people on myspace do these things! The problem is these fast little brats that get on myspace and LIE!!! The other problem is that kids did it before myspace! I remember getting online in chat rooms and getting peoples numbers that were much older than me! I never met them or spoke to them! They sent the numbers to me! Getting rid of myspace is like saying i shoudn't go to work cause somebody might take my life! SO i'll just stay inside! Abviously those kid that did get on myspace and got themselves into some sort of trouble were too young and immature to use myspace! Myspace is not a babysitting service! I don't even talk to anyone under the age of 18! The parents need to set some rules and these children need to follow them and get a brain inside of their heads! The people that do all the bad things would do it even WITHOUT myspace! Myspace is like the bus or train you take to get to school or work! Myspace is a tool for people to communicate! Don't hate on Myspace because something bad happened! Myspace didn't tell them to do or say anything!

I would say that it is not Myspace itself which is dangerous, but some people using Myspace. Therefore, shutting Myspace down would be like shutting the Internet down due to 'bad' users, users who abuse the power of the Internet or a site such as Myspace. It is just like the world, you have to be careful, but you can't just quit it all!

That's because it's not that dangerous. It's just about meeting people...i have never heard of any horrible things happening because of myspace. If kids use general internet precautions such as never giving out phone numbers or other personal information, they will be fine! They can even set their profiles to private if they like, that means only people who add them as friends can see their profile. Parents of preteens should just make their children show them their myspace and be open about it if parents are so worried about it.

myspace is more tha what the news wants to say about it.
its more than just perverts, and more than just dumb little kids who think they are 20.
I dont know whats wrong but I know someone is trying to take Myspace down, someone like competition. Because before anyone knew about myspace it was fine.
I should not be shut down, just monitored because now the kiddies and the companies and advertisments have destroyed it.
Just like they are gonna do to facebook.

The reason you see bad things about Myspace is because the good things are not news worthy. In my fifty years I don't recollect ever hearing a news story about nothing bad happening to people.
Head line of a breaking news story THE POPULATION OF AMERICA JUST REACHED 300 MILLION PEOPLE AND OF THOSE PEOPLE 200 MILLION WERE NOT MUGGED, SHOT, OR LOST THEIR JOB. Yeah like we will ever see something like that.
The best answer is one that I read in Wired online. Tear up all the streets because it allows bank robbers easy access, quick getaways from the banks. Stop making rope because someone my hang themselves, or be tied up and beaten by someone.

YOU need to leave the Internet. If you are going to ask a rhetorical question about why not shut down myspace after only "hearing about it" then you don't have the sense to use a computer right, much less check it out yourself. It's called the first amendment also known as freedom of speech. Besides there are good things on My Space and bad things. The bottom line is you choose what you want. It does not need to be monitored by a bunch of people who can't control themselves. This isn't North Korea where they don't have an Internet or electricity or freedom.

they can shut it down, but what the point? as soon as they shut it down, someone will make a site that's similar to it, and the same things will begin to happen, so the police are getting myspace under control because that's the easiest thing they can do.

Terrible site. Terrible business. Won't allow user to take down old site and no way to communicate this to them. Myspace should be banned from the Internet!

because they are making money with the site (ad's) and they cannot control children who are under age from registering an account there. That's the risk that parents are taking.
Think about it, why arent they shutting down pornography sites? because its a HUGE industry online and you can only control the users who register (who are actually under age) to a certain extent, not to mention all the free sites out there now days anyhow. It's impossible to control everything 100%. That's the risk of the internet :)
