I have a large amount of carpet that got wet in a basement flood. I need to cut it into manageable pieces but it's very difficult to cut. I've been using a box cutter but it's not easy. Any suggestions?

They make a carpet cutter. It's kind of like razor blade, but especially made for carpets. Just ask the people at Home Depot (or wherever you shop) and they can find one for you.
