They are not nearly as bad as people are making them out to be, but frankly I still wouldn't recommend them. There main advantage has always been their low cost, yet you can get a Dell for about the same price now and the quality is better.

Yes, EMachines make quality computers for just about the best prices around. I have been using an EMachines T6412 for around 8 months now and it has been very reliable. It has plenty of hard drive space and runs quickly enough for most tasks.

There better than they used to be because Gateway makes them now.On the other hand ya have to wonder what their skimping on to sell for such a low price.I have had a Dell for 5 years now and the only thing that I can kick about is that it only has 4 PCi slots.Dell dose have good tech if you can understand what their saying,Hp has a good pc with good tech support and easy to run recovery. If money is no object Alien ware is cool. But the option I like best is build your own.Check out ebay.

yea if you cant afford any better. Emachines are computers for people who cant afford computers from other more expensive computer companies like students who dont have a lot of money to spend on a computer. More expensive computer companies like i.e. gateway(which owns emachines) dell, hp,falcon nw,apple, and more.

Mine is working fine. I did have a problem when I first got it and called their tech service. Their tech service is the lowest life form on this earth and has the compasion of a black widow spider. I cannot emphisize enough that their support is the pits; the worst; undeniably the scum of the earth.

I fixed the problem myself and all is fine. Just hope I don't need to contact support again. Other than that - not bad!

That depends on 2 things:
1. What you want to do with the machine.
2. What you can afford.

If you want a lot of "add-ons" or real fast game play, I would say no, but for routine things like e-mail or surfing the internet they are as good as many others.

e-machines are junk they have crappy propriatry software that dossetn work with most other software. they have alot of hardware problems like last year when almost all the power supplys were defective and were burning out the motherboards. e-machines are low budget pieces of junk that will break down even faster than an hp or compq will (if you can possobly beleave that)
