I want to get a lip piercing. Don't tell me they're for freaks, and don't tell me it'll ruin my reputation. I am a freak. Trust me. haha.
How badly will it hurt?
Only people with personal experience, please.

It's like any other piercing...it takes a bit to get used to. There's a bit of stinging and some swelling, but it goes away quickly. Make sure you go somewhere that knows what they're doing.

Have you had your ears pierced? I have my lip pierced on the side and I would compare the pain to not much worse than an ear piercing. If you haven't had an ear piercing, it does hurt, but the build-up and nerves are worse than the pain itself! It hurts at first, and then it kind of burns for a few hours, but it's not as bad as you think! The initial 'ouch' is over in an instant, and it's totally worth it, if you want it!

i've had my lip pierced for about 6 months now & i absolutely LOVE IT! be sure you find a place with a good reputation...ask your friends, etc. mine didn't hurt much worse than biting my lip to have done, and it was only for the second during the piercing and then again when they put the jewelry in. afterwards, it didn't bother me without provokation. use ice to take down swelling if you have any (usually in the morning), and be very very careful not to sleep on it (will cause a lot of swelling and soreness). it will be sensitive to certain foods, so be careful with spicy or salty foods!! use bactine along with whatever solution you get at the piercing parlor...mine healed within 2 weeks! as it heals, you'll get "crusties" (the dry white blood cells from the healing process) on the jewelry...you will want to mess with it all the time, but be very careful not to rotate the ring so that those "crusties" get inside the piercing...it will hurt like crazy and can cause problems! along those lines, don't forget the warm salt water soaks...they loosen this dry material and make the piercing (which will seem to "stick" as it heals) move more freely. don't take it out at all for 6 months, and once you do don't leave it out for more than an hour max! if you ever change jewelry frequently you can find "Hibiclens" at a drug store (Walgreens) and dilute it to a pink color to sanitize jewelry. sorry this is so long, but i hope it helps!

My lip piercing didn't hurt at all. The only part that really hurt was when the needle came through the front of my lip, but that only lasted for a second or two, and then the piercing was done.

Lip piercings are a definitive design for the supporter. Used in Europe
for years 3200. The trust of friends not to touch the piercings is a sign
of exclusiveness to a kiss. The positions are generally as they would
work in a kiss. Deep side lower is generally for membership, higher is
a sign of rank, deep corner top is a sign of membership rebellions, lower
and slightly more centered then is used to show particular favors. A center
ring usually is smaller and easier to arrange, also easier to remove and
has better clean show. The magnet type are easier to use for fashion.

hey girl,
Its not so bad to get the piercing.... but the aftermath. For the 1st 6 weeks its hard to eat anything because the bar keeps getting stuck on you bottom teeth. Mine was a disaster in the end.... had it pulled out thru the front of my lip... this was way more painful than the piercing itself.... I miss it but would never go thru it all again

It all depends on your pain tolerance. Some develop infections afterward if proper care isn't given or even a keloid (lump of skin).
