Yes and no. Occasionally a professional sports team will hold open tryouts that will allow anyone who wants to come out. However, these are usually publicity stunts to draw attention. Very few athletes get to the pro's via this route. You could probably get in touch with the public relations office of the team and ask if they are holding open tryouts anytime soon.

RE:
Is it possible to try out for professional NFL teams, not as a college student, just a regular person? :)?
If so, how does one do it?

Well it's possible, but your chances are one in million or better off being doctor or lawyer. This is not to discourage you, but it's the truth. American football is very difficult because the speed is different at each level from pop Warner to high school, college and definitely professional. The fundamental are crucial in the infant stages. You have to invest a great deal of training and commitment. Further more finding the position that best fits your body type. Football requires a lot of knowledge of the game and principals. When playing professional level its usually the mental or cognitive component of the game that is very important.

Better off trying out for college, simply because college you will learn the basics and the tempo of the game much so then you will automatically trying for the league.

Tryouts For Nfl Teams

During the regular season? Not likely although it happens sometimes. Usually though it would be prior to regular season, like training camp or maybe prior to that don't remember. The teams will hold an open tryout and all walk-ons are allowed to try. Not likely to earn a roster spot but hey there is a chance. Sometimes during a season though they will have an open tryout for a certain postion. For example a few years back the Steelers kicker got hurt and so they held an open tryout. Jeff Reed won the job of the three that tried out and got a three game contract to cover how long their kicker would be out. Well as we all know he ended up keeping the job.

Make a game tape of your skills, send it to the team's offices, and pray.. And I still say no.. If you don't have the football experience in college, or some other league, then NFL teams won't give you a chance unless you completely WOW them on some tape.. If your interested, I know that some Arena Football teams have open try outs. The Iowa Barnstormers did. I don't think they found any prospects from them, but they gave fellows a chance.

I would say 99.9% of players get scouted out of college in some way or another. Antonio Gates of the Chargers didn't play football in college, but was still allowed a tryout because he played well in high school and showed athletic talent playing basketball in college. I very seriously doubt that anyone would have a chance without some sort of college athletics background.

it's possible, but it's also a long shot. the only thing is u gotta have a lotta friends that can brag about u. make sure 2 have some video of ur best stuff, too. have a college coach contact the human resouces/affairs offices of several teams, as well as the nfl offices, and set up appointments with as many scouts as possible. 32 teams--at least one's gonna say yes, especially a team with a terrible record.
