You need a notarized letter from both the mom and dad stating your travel dates, destination and authorizing you to take your nephew outside the country. Verbal doesn't cut it, if you don't have these proper papers you will not be traveling with your nephew and the airline will not refund your money or allow you to travel the next day. They can and most likely will make you buy a new ticket.

If one of the parents is deceased or one of the parents has soul custody then you either need the death certificate or showing that either the mom or dad has soul custody of the child.

Please though, this is a question that you should be asking a professional travel specialist and also book reservations through one. This way you have someone to ask any questions you might have and get accurate information.

Unless you run across a person in here who has gone through this process there are many that just aren't qualified in here to answer a question such as this and you can find yourself getting inaccurate information. Such as someone saying "Just bring snow gear and hot choc.".

You just can never be to careful because if you got wrong info you could find yourself in a bad predicament.

Have Fun in Europe and remember book in advance for the best prices!
