I've been in that situation before and I just moved on, but I also kept in touch with by best friend by writing letters (not to be confused with e-mails--real letters show that you care a little more about your friend since you can't write a great letter on a Hallmark card in the same amount of time as an e-mail) about once every two or three months. You and your best friend were bound to part ways in the future (unless you're really lucky or you're really good at manipulating your best friend's circumstances). However, you can easen up this partition by writing often and by making plans to invite your friend over to your place whenever possible. Also, try to make new friends that you can trust almost as well as you'd trust your best friend. This will allow you to also have "another shoulder to lean on" when your best friend isn't around to talk to about your problems.

if you truely are best friends than you will stick it out and call her and email her and text her everyday and every chance you get because my best friend who is like my sister lives an hour away from me now and i hardly see her but we still love each other to death.. keep your friendship alive by trying!

if you are truly best friends, it will not affect your relationship. My bestfrient moved ACROSS country after we ended college, and we are still tight as ever!
