Yes, but it's all in the way you say it. Example: When you and a friend are shopping and she asks, "does this make me look fat?', instead of saying, "yes, I can see your rolls hanging out.", you should say something like, "why don't you try on _____, it would be a lot more flattering and look really cute on you." Whatever you have to say, just spin it so that you won't hurt the other persons feelings so much.

Honesty can be brutal. Ever have a friend that just got a dress she'd been raving about off of lay-away and put it on and asked for your opinion?

Even if it looks like a gunny sack, it is not being dishonest to say something like, "That's really...........different." That is being tactful, but honest as well.
