I had my daughter's ears pierced yesterday - she is 2 1/2 mths old. It is usually best to do it early before the baby can move too much. I took her when she was asleep which made it even easier. I also used a local anesthetic which helped alot. Good luck :)

I think all parents are different when it comes to piercing their childs ears. Some decide not to do it aat all. My cousin had her 2 daughters ears pierced by the time they were 6 weeks old. I got mine done when I was in second grade. I have been thinking of getting my daughters ears pierced for her first birthday in December. So just do it when you think is the right time or ask your daughters docter to see what age they recommened.

I got my youngest daughters ears pierced at 4 days old.. She didn't fuss in the least only jumped a little from the noise of the piercing gun waking her up then right back to sleep... I was able to do umbilical cord care and piercing care simultaniously... She never had any problems with infection ect. They were all healed before she was able to reach up and fiddle with them or out and about to get them dirty while healing...
I recommend either very early before 3 months or wait until the child is able to do the piercing care themselves and understand playing with them can lead to infection 7years or later...

I got my daughter's done as soon as I could (after the first shots), because it's cute and it makes a baby girl look more feminine. It's also easier for people to tell the sex of the baby is if your baby's bald. I have noticed that a lot of Caucasians wait until the they are much older though. Strictly a personal choice.

i got my daughters pierced when she was 7 months old. she cried a little but then completely forgot about it. she is 14 months old now and her earrings dont bother her and they look adorable. i do know that most places wont pierce a babies ears until they are at least 3 months old. so if your child is older than that and you want to get it done, go for it.

I would wait until they get their 1st shots so 3-6 months.
from someone who had ther ears pierced for a 2nd time at the age of 9 it dosent hurt since then I have 4 piercings in each ear

After the baby gets their set of shots, which is usually by 4 weeks of age. Most ear piercing places (Claire's, The Icing, Piercing Pagoda) won't pierce until they are at least six weeks old.
As a mother, I would say the younger the better. An infant can't remember traumas (and the pain of a piercing is a trauma) past seven minutes, so, do it early. If they don't want to wear earrings when they get older, they can take them out. It's better than waiting until they nag and nag at you and then are mad because it hurts. And also, it will be easier for you to care for them when they are younger. The piercings will be like a second nature for the child, so they never mess with them, so you can keep them cleaner longer.
I have a three year old and I waited until she was one to get her ears pierced. She never complains about her ears hurting and she never messes with them. I have a pair of diamonds that we put in her ears when she turned two and kept the piercing studs in for the time she was one to two.
I worked at Claire's for two years and pierced plenty of ears. The infants and toddlers were the easiest to deal with. They didn't squirm, didn't complain, cried a little, and mom listened to how to care for the ears, not a thirteen year old who would forget!
YOU ARE NOT A BAD MOTHER FOR WANTING TO GET YOUR GIRL'S EARS PIERCED AT A YOUNG AGE! YOU ARE SAVING HER THE TRAUMA OF THIS WHEN SHE IS OLDER! AND IT'S SUPER CUTE!

So people will know she's a girl? That's the stupidest reason I've ever heard. I guess that would be the only reason though. Did people forget about girls clothes? why do they need to pierce an infants ears?

It's all in opinion, BUT I don't suggest getting a *baby's* ears pierced. Let the kid grow up and decide if she even wants a hole in her ear.
I know someone who's mom had her ears pierced as a baby, and she didn't even want piercings!
just because you think a tattoo would look cool on a baby (no one would do it, but this is just emphasizing my point)...think of what your BABY WANTS. You don't know what she wants yet, so let her grow and decide herself.
