This is normal. Goldfish build their bottom burps up for months and release it with considerable force when the time is right. This is often harmless although it may cause minor distress to any other fish sharing the tank (but they'll soon forget it happened).
It can lead to the fish launching itself from the bowl so I'd recommend a mesh lid.

Your watching a fish for 24 hours to make sure it farts?? Get a hobbie and leave the poor fishy aloone. Poor thing. You might also wan to see a shrink. They might help you. If you cann't figure it out They meaning Male or female.

No he is obviously ill, take him out of the water, dry him with a towel and warm him up by placing him behind a hot radiator in your house for at least a week.

There is no air in goldfish, so it would not fart like a air breathing life-form.

You won't see it fart... Bet you're watching for the bubbles, aren't you?
Think about it.....!
We breathe oxygen, so its in gas form out of the other end...
Fish breathe water, so they fart in liquid form !!
...get a little bubble air pump if you want to see bubbles.

haha haha Goldfish dont fart! Niether do pigeons or any sort of bird or rodent! If they get too gassed up they actually blow up!
Strange but TRUE!!!!

quickly remove it from the tak and begin artificial respiration ...if that dont work break up an alka seltzer and force it down into its stomach,,,then place it back in the tank it should fart then

OMG he hasn't farted yet? you need to get him to a vet as soon as you can, too much air in such a little body can cause him to explode. :(
