The UN only has peacekeepers and not a real army. It can't enforce sanctions, if it has no strength!
I believe in a strong and powerful UN with a 5 million man arny. And a very strong UN leader.
The world needs a strong UN to deal with rogue terrorists, and enforce trade sanctions with real power.
Give the UN some real power, and give it a chance to create peace!

The U. S. has tried to be too goody two shoes, even to the tune of allowing the U. N. to have their headquarters on our soil. We are also the biggest (money wise, I think--correct me if I'm wrong) supporter of the U. N. We should quit funding a weak (both militarily & mentally if you will) willed organization that is a toothless pussy cat. Nowhere in history will you find an agressor agreeing to weak willed, toothless powers. Hitler & Stalin did not & neither did they in Vietnam (it was only U. S. military power that brought the Commies to the Paris Peace Accords. Hitler merely signed the "non-agression paper" with Britain's Chamberlain & then took over Poland, Czechoslovakia, Belgium, the Netherlands & France. We should again, quit funding the U. N., & ask them to pay rent for their huge headquarters on our soil. We should stand for what we believe & I say nuke Iran, Syria, & North Korea, major funders & supporters of terrorism world wise. If the whole world (except Israel--which is our ally until death) cries foul, so what? WE ARE AT WAR! The terrorists killed more Americans on 9/11 than were killed at Pearl Harbor. After Pearl we threw our whole military might at destroying Japan, Nazi Germany, & Fascist Italy. So why be a paper tiger or a toothless pussy cat today? People live in constant fear in a Communist country, afraid of being finked on by even their own family, being spied on, where absolutely nothing is private, there are no such things as the Bill of Rights. The secret police can search your home anytime they want, put you in jail anytime they want for any reason they want, & torture & starve you to death anytime they want. The same conditions were true under Saddam, & in Afghanistan. Why would anyone want to live in a country like that? I know from your question that you agree with me 100%, but all this long speech is for the "uneducated" masses who've been brainwashed by ABC, CBS (where they fired Dan Rather for lying about Pres. Bush, and another TV newsman for telling the truth), NBC, CNN & MSNBC. People should be listening to unbiased news media like Fox news & CBN news.

The UN has been a "Paper Tiger" for years. The US didn't even listen to the UN's plea for peaceful diplomacy before going to war in Iraq! We don't even need the UN. Much to my consternation, the US is the "World Police". What you're proposing is a pipe dream. Don't get me wrong, I am an advocate of the UN having actual power but, I don't see how it's possible. :(

The UN is the contract clearing house for international funds.
It has nothing to do with peace only money

As worthless as people see it now, I doubt that countries will have their men serve the U.N. Countries in general should back up what the UN does and the UN needs to be more hash. Sanctions won't always work. Good idea though.
