This is a generalization folks, at least of those 'religion hippies' that openly try way to f-ing hard to get the media's attention (i.e. Terry Shaivo scenario or w/e). Don't try putting this question down, because that will only reinforce this into fact and show that some tampon has been shoved up your rectum. I'm not putting down the religion itself, I'm merely thinking of pointing out the hypocrisy of when such Christians critisize other passionate believers of other religions or groups of the same thing. Unless, of course, you are completely aware of your hypocrisy and would like to stop yourself and are just trying to point out the same problem to other people just as reminder to stop yourself from so called problem.

I would like to know the opinion of others from a non-uptight point of view. Even though you may be one of those uptight unfortunate beings, give not being uptight a try and answer my question(s).

Extremists of one religion are generally very defensive about their beliefs, sometimes even to the point of violence. The inability to accept that others may have other beliefs and to be able to live cooperatively with those others is one that has generally been fed to them their entire lives. They live waiting to be offended, even it is only imagined, just so they can reasure themselves of the superiority of their beliefs.

This kind of attitude is not limited to religious extremists. If you look in the politics catagory you will see questions asking "why all democrats" or "why all republicans". It is just human nature for some percentage of the population to be holier than thou idiots.

FYI, the Shaivo scenario was based on her parent's belief that she was aware. It was outsiders, including congress, who made it into a religious debate.

It doesn't matter what religion you are as long as you believe that Jesus Christ is the only way of going to Heaven. The trouble is that you will find that Christianity is the only "religion" in the world that believes this. All others tell you that you have to do this and that to become saved. That's the reason we don't believe that Muslims, or Buddhists can be saved, because they base their salvation on their own deeds rather than on Christ himself. You have people that actually have accepted Jesus in their heart sincerely but attend other Church for different reasons like parents making them.

If you are a true Christian you will eventually realize that "other religions" is not what God wants for you, he only wants you to have a relationship with him.

I was told once by a Pastor that "Christians are the biggest sinners"
They sit in church, week after week, trying to get it right and as soon as church is over they walk out into their hypocrite lives.
They act like religious zealots {like with Shaivo) to make up for their own spiritual inferiorities.

I am a Christian, and I am writing on the screen name of my best friend the Catholic. rah. She says we like suits. hehe. I wear jeans to church. Christians are indeed very hypocritical- and I think its because most don't actually understand their "religion". They are trying to follow the rules they were taught in Sunday school, and in knowing that they cannot be perfect, they get uptight. alas. It isn't really supposed to work that way.
oh... new paragraph. They also try to look like they're always happy and encouraging because they think they have to act that way to be good Christians and you can't keep up an act like that without having some sort of mental breakdown. silly people

Intolerant or insecure minds often use anger as a defense mechanism. If we truly believe in something, alternate viewpoints shouldn't anger us, but should be rationally answered if questions arise.

If someone's questioning of our faith causes us to second-guess ourselves, perhaps we should know our own beliefs more intimately.
