I just don't like it. Be it rings, necklace, earings, I just don't enjoy any of it. I don't even wear my wedding ring. My husband bought me a diamond ring for our 10th anniversary and I had to tell him that I would rather use the money on the house and had him return it. He was ok with that. My friends think I am just plain weird or just lying about it (still haven't figured out why I would do that). Anyone else like me?

It would appear that you are not alone. I sort of like jewelry...that is I think it is pretty and I have a few nice pieces (earrings, a pearl necklace, etc) but 99% of the time I only wear my watch (if you want to consider that jewelry) and a ring that I bought in St. Thomas years ago (I never take it of, so it feels as if it is a part of my body now). I am not married right now, but I have been and the only other piece of jewelry I would wear was my wedding ring.

I will admit that I do like receiving nice quality jewelry as gifts, it is not something that I deem necessary. I also appreciate flowers but they die so quickly that it seems such a waste of money.

And I, too, despise shopping. One of your other answerers mentioned that. I thought I was the only woman in the U.S. that was born without the shopping gene! Nice to know there are others like me!

EllasMom,

I could do with or without it. I have a nice pair of diamond studs, a pretty diamond necklace I bought years ago, my class ring and a ring my Dad gave me. And a WHOLE bunch of stuff in my jewelry box that I wear when I think about it.

You are not alone. I guess we are supposed to be adorned, and like it.

And guess what? I hate shopping also!

no but maybe the next time you husband buys you soemthing nice like that at least have the decency to tuck it aways in a jewelry box as a memory of his love for you and not just a piece thing to wear. Nothing wrong to not wear jewellry but consider others feelings when they get you things like that and do not know you would not wear it. Jewellry is just a symbol that you can wear but even if you do not wear it you can still hold onto it and call it a treasure. Maybe your daughter would like it if you have one a future grandaughter. By the way, you might want to at least wear your wedding ring when you are in public cuz your impression to single guys is that you are single as well and that might be somewhat embarrassing.

I have never had any interest in jewelry. Diamonds seem like a waste of money. I'd rather have something fun or practical. Why would your friends think you'd lie about such a thing? It's not like you would benefit from it. I tell my boyfriend to skip the flowers and buy me something to plant in my yard if he must get me something.

NO you're not the only one, I'm the same way. On occasions I'll wear a necklace, but I just don't find jewelry necessary, not pointless...but just UNecessary. some women wear jewelry to accentuate their beauty, some wear makeup, some focus on their hair, the lucky ones dont do anything at all. (that' me) anyway just remember different people value different things, yours just happens not to be jewelry. =)

You're quite normal and even ah refeshing change... and no im not cheap or lesbian. Plain and simple you're not a materialistic person. See society has done a good job of convincing women that diamonds are their best friends, but you have realized that there's more to life than jewels. You have your priorities in life and living up to soceity's expectations isnt one of yours.... good for you!! your know who you are and is comfortable and happy with your decisions.. good for u

I am. Hate Jewelry. I used to have this thing back in highschool that when a guy gives me jewelry as a gift then it;s over between us for if he knew me then he'd know I hated it. So Lost 5 guys that way.

I love jewelry..... but different women enjoy different things. Obviously, you enjoy the simpler things in life.. which goes to show you are more of a quality then quantity person. That's a good attribute.

Yeah, I am. When I was younger [9 y/o] and my mom used to buy necklaces and earrings, I'd end up losing them because I never cared for them. It just never appealed to me.. too flashy.
