I know it's not.
Whilst certain things mentioned in the book are based on factual organisations, and certain real events, the book also includes things long, established by intelliigent, dilligent factual based reearch to be false. Remember, when creating a cover for an illicit organisation, minsinformation is just as important as hiding the truth.
The 'Priory of Sion' never existed, though there was a mediaeval religious group in Jerusalem. The documents listing the Masters in the French Library were faked in the 50s.
If the book has raised your interest in such things, might I recommend that you do your own research, it is great fun. Start with the Knights Templar, and the true history of the bible creation and purpose, then see where it takes you.

As Jesus asked Pilate, "What is Truth?"
We tend to make our own truths and even try (and succeed!)to convince others our home-made truths. I have studied a bit of theology and can safely say that the da vinci code book has omitted many things from the side of the Catholic Church that could cast a doubt on what the author believes and wants us to believe. There is so much more to the history of the Catholic Church, to Jesus in history that we do not know but there are studies that have been conducted and still are being conducted that, not only is based on 1 person's research, belief and writings but is more substantially backed up by the bible, recorded church history as well as world history and especially the Tradition and traditions that has been handed down through generations of faith. Not as separate sources but how all these sources go hand in hand and point to one direction.
Sounds as if I'm talking Greek right, haha, all I want to say is, the author partially gives facts but mixes it with his own fiction that, since we are not well-versed with the history of the Church, we don't know where truth starts and fiction ends.

Its in the fiction section of the book stores. The author made it up. He has as much authority as HG Wells, Miss Cleo the psychic. I'm not saying he wasn't a smart man or a great writer. On the contrary, the fact that he could make up something and have everybody believe it as gospel truth shows how brilliant he is. But true nau. Im not phased by it.

Of course not it is easy to distort the truth. It's a book now movie but that's all it is the only reason it seems so real is because there taking true history and adding some thrill and deceit to the picture which makes us excited and are minds go into overdrive

If there really was a descendant of Jesus living in the world, you would think that he or she would proclaim himself by now. The book "Holy Blood, Holy Grail" claims that the Merovignian kings were part of the bloodline, and that fragments of the line have survived into modern times. The Merovignians were bloody butchers, even by the standards of 7th century France, so I wouldn't be too proud about being descended from them. The other big piece of the puzzle, the Priory of Sion, is harder to unravel. The Priory of Sion exists. It was founded in France in 1954, with the express purpose of restoring chivalry. However, its publications produced studies of housing problems. If you can find a link between housing problems and chivalry, you're a better detective than me. The French police considered the founder of the Priory to be a con artist.

It could very well be TRUE!!!
The richest, most powerful single organization on this earth is the Catholic church . And while money, suppression of knowledge, and violence may have been enough in the past (i.e. the inquisition) to suppress what they did not want laypeople to know, the internet has turned the Vatican and its Medieval Hierarchy into a laughingstock.
The priesthood, once respected, is now a travesty consisting of horny homosexual pedophiles.
Where is Jesus in all this?????
He is looking on in approval as DaVinci's condemnations begin to bear fruit....Goodbye, great whore of "Vatican", and good riddance.

No, if you read the foreward in the book, it clearly states 'This is a work of fiction'. For those that do not understand fiction is NOT real.

A lot of people paid good money for it so it must be false.
Eternal Truth has always been free.
