I'm not the handiest of sorts; when we moved to our condo a few months ago, the previous owner had a hampton bay ceiling fan over the dining room rather than the living room portion of the living area. I want to move it but I do not know if it'll be a lot of work. Or if it is complicated at all. Is there somewhere online where I can find detailed instructions (specific links please)

And I'll be using a "swag kit" because the older condo and there are no light boxes.

Do you have attic or crawl space above?? If not it will be very hard to run the wires where you want them!! Try the diynetwork.net site and check it out!!

if your not the handiest then i suggest you get someone on in to do it and know it is a big job that you need to plan ahead on as to cost and exactly where you want it located cause once it is in you don't want to have to pay to move it again. you have to have it wired to code or the insurance company will not pay for fires that are your fault

this is NOT a jobthat is easy especially for someone who has no knowledge. It invilves electrical, running wires and installingboxes in the ceiling, proper support for the fan, working above the ceiling, and then repairing the HOLE you will leave when you remove the fan

I wouldn't recommend it; because it is a lot of work. You could do more damage to the wall. Most do it yourself sites will tell you to work around it; and don't offer suggestions or instructions on ways to move one. Sorry, but it really is an unfeasible task.

If you are not handy, stay out of electric work. Hire someone. You have to run wires and cut a hole. Not easy.

Call and get some bids. You could electrocute yourself or wire it wrong and burn your house down. You will save money in the end.
