authors, this is where i need your help, i need to write a scary story for school between 200-330 words long, i dont want a complete written story, but an idea, what do you think would be really REALLY scary? what makes a story scary?

Suspense, you could write about anything as long as you word it right. Maybe there is a place around where you live that is just creepy to you, try writing a story that gives that place a background. In my hometown there was a house that had broken windows and it was a dark and creepy place. I could write a story about the family that lived there and how they were brutally murdered and now their spirits haunt the house seeking retribution for the wrongs that have befallen them. I would then include a character (maybe myself) who would enter the house and attempt to figure out the mystery of the people who died there. Suspense is what's important, keeping the reader at the edge of their seat. Of course I would encounter spirits, and gore always adds an element to these kind of stories. It'll be easier for you once you get started i think. Anyway, I hope this idea helps. Good luck

I think a story is scary if it seems like it could happen where you are, maybe a story about kids in a school

Maybe a story about an author of horror novels' story coming true or a group of teens going to a fake haunted house that becomes real?

reality makes a story real scary. nothing more scary in this world than the things that people do to each other.

Halloween type things. Like vampires or witches. Seeing the future is kind of freaky too.

Think, what are you most afraid of? Certainly not weird little ghosties and witches.
Write about what you are afraid of.
