My son will be 2 tomorrow, this morning he got up at 5:30, and napped from 8:30-11:30. He usually wakes b/w 8-9, but he has a cold and not feeling the best. Anyways, he was flushed and a little warm at 5:30, so I gave him tylenol, and at 6 put him in his bed while I finished dinner. He is fast asleep. Should I wake him up to eat, or just let him sleep??????

He is on a routine and goes to bed at 7:30 everynight pretty much, and had a bran muffin and fruit for breakfast, full sandwich and fruit for lunch and crackers around 3:30 for snack

I would let him sleep. He is probably tired from the fever breaking and might sweat a little. He will mostly wake up again, needing more tylenol (which I would rotate with advil) if his fever returns. He will also most likely wake up around 9 or 10 if he is thirsty which is common after fever breaking.
I know you probably kind of want to wake him, so you aren't up all night...but when they get sick, you can pretty much throw the schedule out the window anyway.
If he wakes up (He might not if he is really fighting off whatever) just keep him in a dark environment (low lights) put on a soothing cartoon and give him watered down juice or something without sugar. Kids are known to have energy spells when they are sick, it is just the adrenaline kicking in trying to fight off the illness.
Just keep everything soothing and maybe take it to the couch when he wakes up and lay down with him until this passes.
Good luck....

I would let him sleep. If he isn't feeling well and you gave him Tylenol then he probably needs the rest. I would definetly keep an eye on him , If his fever is a low grade one you might try a cool cloth if he wakes and make sure he is drinking plenty of liquids. It sucks to be sick on your birthday and every one of my 6 children were always sick when they had a 2 year old "B" day. Good luck tonite with your son and a very Happy Birthday tomorrow

If he is flushed, I'm guessing he has a fever? That will make him tired and his body needs the rest to recover. When you are awake, energy must be expended that the body can put towards fighting the illness if asleep. My daughter is almost 6 and has thankfully passed the biggest illness stage, but when she would get feverish at that age she could sleep almost 3-days straight. His body needs the rest so don't worry. Food can wait.

Let him sleep. Kids will tell you when they're hungry. There are plenty of children in the world who go weeks without eating and survive. You are being a good mother for caring though, he's lucky! He needs his rest to get better, so he may not even feel hungry tonight at all.

No! Sleep is the best healer. So long as he has enough fluids, he'll be fine. Wake him when it's time for his next dose of medicine and be sure that he drinks some apple juice or something. Then...let him sleep. His body knows what he needs.

Let him sleep. If it is only 1 1/2 hours earlier than usual, but he's sick, he'll be fine. He preobably needs the extra sleep.

While not a mom i would agree to let him sleep. Just monitor his temp, breathing and moving real good so to make sure he isnt unconscious in case its something more severe. Otherwise, kids are surprisingly tough and jolly while being sick...;-)

Let him rest, he needs it. He will wake when he is hungry, it might put your schedule off a bit, but will get back to normal when he is feeling better., You better get your rest too, while he is. :) give lots of liquid also

I would wake him up to see if he wants to eat. When my son does this and i dont wake him up he usually gets up at midnight wanting something to eat. Then that makes you feel miserable because your going to get up and get them something to eat and kick yourself for not waking him up to eat.
