I'm a trailer kind of guy, double wide, I ain't poor. I bought my last one for 28 thou. My wife and girlfriend want me to get a house. But they cost a lot. So I'm wondering, what do I need the dirt for? Maybe the first foot or so, but why do I have to pay for more than that. I only need the top part to park my truck and for a trash pile. If I promise not to bury any thing out there deeper than a foot or so, can I save some money?

And what about "air rights"? If I own it why does it keep blowing away? I ain't gonna pay for that too.

I agree - wives and girlfriends cost a lot. Pay for a little extra dirt
in case you get a good rain and some washes away. Get about
a foot and a half. Put your promise in writing and put up a cash
bond - that will save even more money.

Well, land almost always increases in value so if and when you sell it you are almost guaranteed a profit. On the other hand you will have to pay taxes on the property. It's really up to you.

It is kind of empowering to feel like a piece of land is really YOURS and you can do anything you want with it.

Don't worry. Your subsurface rights have already been stripped away and sold to someone else. You are indeed only buying the 1st foot or so anyway.

maybe buy you a Mac or a Peterbuilt and just live in rest areas so you don't have to buy the dirt and air at all
