I don't know how many of you have been paying attention to the news, but today they said that the "music industries" have filed 8,000 more lawsuits against illegal file sharing. My question is, I've heard it costs the artist and producing companies an average of 5 cents per CD to mass produce, but when it hits store shelve it's 18 freakin dollars. Now I don't know about you but it sure looks like artists such as Metallica, Busta Rhymes, Britney Spears and so forth are living it up pretty nicely. So why in the world do they need EVERYONE to buy their CD? Also do you think it's right/fair for them to sue you or another person when you've bought the cd, that's saying your not making a profit off of it?

It's begining to sound more and more like these basketball and baseball players when they went on strike. These guys/girls make more then I'll ever make in 20 years in one paycheck and yet they complain they're not making enought to PLAY A STINKING GAME!

I agree whole heartedly!
How can they expect some kid with a five dollar allowance or a student working for minimum wage to buy a twenty dollar CD?!
What's even more insane is the musicians who are complaining are all musicians who have "made it" in the industry. I could understand if it was some garage band who needs the money to keep playing, but millionaires who have better standards of living than ninety-eight percent of the world population have no right to complain about their financial standings. It's absolutely appalling how much they are paid to just show their face, yet our soldiers, EMTs, nurses, policemen, and firemen are making less than fifty thousand a year.
And what's with the rappers?! They make fortunes selling songs about being poor and how hard their childhood was yet they give nothing back to their communities or even attempt to try and rebuild their hometowns. I grew up in Marin City and I can guarantee you if I ever came upon as much money as most rappers have the first thing I'd do is give that money to build better, safer schools and safe havens so those kids wouldn't have to live like I did.

It has now come to be like basketball and baseball, one little country boy musician sells 14 million albums, another has 51 number one singles (all of this calculated by sales tracking.)
It has become big business because the peons like the sports and the music enough to shell 1/4 or so of their paycheck each week to get it. Just stop ! No more baseball, football, basketball.
Play your parents old 45 rpm records on a victrola. Some were pretty good, Patti Paige, Tennessee Waltz, Willie Nelson,
Faded Love. Just stop! Drop out of this loop ! The old music was good enough. Babe Ruth was good, you didn't need to see Michael Jordan or Larry Bird for $60 a ticket. Stop going, that's the answer !

That is excellent news !
The music lovers who got sued, will understand much faster that the greedy music industry became obsolete nowadays. As they will not have any money to buy new CD's anymore, they will find that that's no problem at all because there is enough free and legal music on the net to never have to buy a CD from a major record label anymore.
So the first answerer was right. Give him the 10 points.

well put I make music and play for people not for the money cos i like it ! If I get paid it's a bonus ! which is always nice but at the same time i'm doing something I love so I get a kick out of it anyway back in the day the minstrel played for his dinner and lodgings ! Would these people play on an ordinary wage ? I doubt it but i bloody well would !

Yes, I read it this morning. It's crazy, but these guys are after everyone.

I really wonder why it is anybody actually buys anything anymore. I think everyone should stop buying cds and paying for itunes downloads until they leave us alone. File sharing among private individuals must be recognized as 100% legal as long as you don't resell the stuff you share.

And they call this a "free world"? It's more like nazi germany or soviet russia if you ask me.

All the people that you just listed have the worst music. Listen to artists who write their own songs, sell them for 10 bucks, and care more about getting their music out there. Like Jewel, Michelle Branch, or John Mayer.

I jump around with songs so I don't like all the songs on an album. I think it is rediculis that we have to pay so much for only a few songs that we really like.
