If a wonder of the world should involve some degree of mystery about how they were built or what they were for then the list should only include:

Easter Island Statues, Chile

Machu Picchu, Peru

Pyramids of Giza, Egypt

Stonehenge, Amesbury, United Kingdom

We know how all the others were built and what they were for.
But

The Great Wall, China

should be included because it can be seen from space and it is ancient

and

Timbuktu city, Mali

Petra ancient city, Jordan

should be included because they are ancient.

The others might be popular tourists sites but they are too modern and we know how they were built.

I'm struggling to pick 7 out of that list.

I do like:
Pyramids, Giza
Christ the Redeemer, Rio de Janeiro
Stonehenge, Amesbury
Eiffel Tower, Paris

Other than that they're all OK, but not really wonders (apart from the pyramids, neither are my four). They're architecturally good, but they don't make me wonder how it was done or anything.
