i think i would if i had a step dad but not a step mom

Step father - never a close friend, never was and pobably never will be. Someone you have to get along with and respect to a degree to their face, yes. I am civil to my step father out of respect for my mother. There is a lot of rivalry in our family because my step father has two sons and my mother has two daughters. There is alot of us vs them going on all the time. Not to mention the boys are Jewish and we are Catholic! In order to keep peace in the family, I treat my step father with respect and keep it real simple. Step families are really hard.

Yeah, but it took me about 15 years to get to that point with my step mom. Take your time and be patient -- tell him or her that you want to have a friendly, adult relationship with them. It will happen in time.

I would. It would give you something to do when your bored. Its better to make friends with them than enemies. If you become friends with them you can talk them in to getting you something you really want!!
