One of the best things you can do is walk around the area and go in to the stores you would like to work at. Ask about a job and leave them you number so they call you if something comes up.
Keep doing that. They will get to know know some one will come up with something.

all you have to do is call the places where you would like to work at . then call them up, if they are not hiring, look in the paper to see who is hiring. if you do get a job, then find out that you don't like it, just remember it is a paying job. hope this was helpful and that you get your job.

Try an employment agency. They will try to hook you up with a job that is right for you. If you really want to work in a store, some agencies do deal with stores, and some even offer transportation if you need it.

Try Wal-mart, as long as your paperwork is in order they hire a lot of people for overninght stocking and for evening clean-up ("zone"). Plus, it's getting close to holiday season, and they need extra bodies.
