Then you can wear a skirt and a cute shirt that matches. Then some sandals that fit in with all ocasions eaither if it is a formal or casual dance. That would look very preety.

I don't think Homecoming apparel matters but I wouldn't expect a homecoming dress to look like a prom dress. one difference i always see in a homecoming dress and a prom dress (or any other dress for that matter) is that homecoming dresses tend to be shorter than prom dresses, they are also usually frilly, and glittery, great dresses for dancing. Edit: Oops, i didn't know you were a guy. i agree with the others, you should just wear a crisp clean suit, unless your school goes a little less formal, then you could just wear jeans and a really nice t-shirt (maybe a baseball cap and shades...idk...i've seen people do it before)

I had homecoming last weekend- at our school it is fairly formal. The girls get thier nails, hair, makeup done and we wear long or knee length dresses. If you dont like dresses i would suggest a gaucho-pant "dress" its kind of hard to explain but my brother's girlfriend wore it a few years ago. it was really pretty and it kind of looked like a skirt. As far as finding out whether it is formal or not ask a teacher, administrator, or whoever is in charge of the dance- at my school it was student government. Also if it is casual maybe wear a short skirt and a cute top. Hope you have fun!

I'll be on your same boat next year! (i'm an 8th grader and a total tom boy! polos and jeans is like all i wear!) But if its formal still wear a dress...especially if you have a date..wear a cool looking one...one thats young and just cool looking. If it's casual u still want to dress kinda nice, probably a nice blouse/top and dress pants.
I don't like dresses either so your not alone..but just take this opportunity to dress up a little.
O and to find out...ask around, and see what ppl are going to wear.

Well, homecoming does not neccasarily mean super-formal, so you could do with a skirt or something. And plus, get used to it: as a girl, dresses are part of your life. But if you really detest them, try to make casual wear look stylish and formal, like adding a pretty belt or ribbon to a long shirt or......well you get what I mean!!!

Usually homecoming is formal. My homecoming was kinda like senior prom but only everyone could go do it.

You kind of have to wear a dress. Try Dillards or Forever 21 if you have a budget, or if money is no object then Nordstroms.
