Truman is easily in the top 10 Presidents in history.
He dealt with the Soviets, communist uprisings in Greece, Malta, and Italy. He challenged the unions, when they wanted a nationwide strike(he threatened to draft all union members into the Army)!!!!
The economy was falling right after WW2, and he propped it up. He lead the US to final victory over Japan, and Germany.
He did have mob connections from Missouri, and even went to one of their funerals. He used harsh language at times.
He was a overlooked President, and was unpopular when he left. BUT, he has gained popularity over the years!

I thought he generally did well. There was the business about trying to seize the steel mills, which was ill-advised, but aside from that I have no complaints. It was inexcusable for FDR to keep him so much in the dark about so many important matters, such as the atomic weapons program.

Harry Truman was the best president during my life, at least so far, the best of the 20th. century.
He has been greatly under-rated thus far.

He was definitely an interesting politician. He managed to anger both parties. I think he was pretty decent. He had a good secretary of state [George C. Marshall], and usually followed his advice for foreign policy.
