Do this reset your cable modem and router. Than check if it works with your pc with the ethernet cord if it does. Try it it without the cable and you are good to go. If putting wireless internet for computer make sure u have a wireless card installed u need one in order to have wi-fi.

your trying to connect your modem AND router?
I think what you want to be doing is connecting your phoneline directly to the router... you shouldn't need the modem aswell... unless you mean a 56k modem which is unfortunately incompatible with your router.
