Many celebrities are looked upon as heroes or rock stars or some craziness. I don't know if this is because we do not have many of the type of heroes that the world used to have, and hero worship has been displaced.
Several decades ago, we looked up to service people, and politicians and astronauts and teachers and police and firemen and nuns and priests and ministers. Celebrities were admired, but not hero worshipped as they are now. There is so much scandal and bad behaviour in almost all facets of life now. the heroes are few and far between.
Some of it may be that there is so much information available at all times, the media just has to overdo everything; just to get people to react.
I have to have a computer for my work and my masters degree studies, but I do not have cable TV, so much sameness and stupidity, I would rather read a book. There are a lot of people who think that I practically live in the dark ages because of this choice, but that is their opinion and their choice. Have a good night!

Because news about celebrities raises their ratings. Now we can't tell a news program from Entertainment Tonight. News is no longer news. It's just a lot of garbage.
