mines great his name is Pedro hes 4 or 5yrs old I loose track as we have many reptiles hes over a foot and a half long and hes pretty fat LOL He likes to eat alot of fruit and veggies he loves wax worms and we just fed him his first pinkie mouse at the start of the week and he loved it. he loves swinging in his hamock, climbing his log and sunning himself on his rock. He also loves to be sprayed with water. He likes to be held we are thinking of getting a little harness so he can walk around because like yours he runs.

we have had our beardie for about a month and she is about 6 months old. She is shy, is not quite sure about this being held thing and will only tolerate it for so long then she jumps down. She won't eat if we are watching her either. We got her a friend but she has been the "queen" and didn't want to have anything to do with any "friend" and in fact intimidated the other into hiding so we had to separate them. What I love is her obvious personality it sometimes seems she understands what we say to her and her reactions to us are as individual as she is. I tell her she is silly and she will close the eye on the side I am on as if to sleep but the other is open so she's just ignoring me. I don't dare let her out yet and don't hold her at all if the dog is in the house. I am afraid she will jump off me and hurt herself or get lost and eaten by the dog, I hold her over the tank so I know she'll be safe.
Hope you enjoy your beardie.

In my experiences I have found... You will need 2 dome lights and a fluorrescent strip light. A day and night timer is essential. I'd run that through a thermostat. I have a ReptiTherm 500. It's ok. not good or bad. Put a 125 or 150w basking bulb in for the daytime and a UVB 10.0 fluorescent in the strip. Your basking spot should be between 95 and 105 degrees farenheit. The cool end should be in the mid-80s.Set these to about 12 maybe 14 hours a day. For night I would use a Moonglow or ceramic 75 (also on thermostat). Your night temp should be in the mid 70s. As for substrate LISTEN CAREFULLY. The sand is awesome for adults. It looks great. I had my baby on it and he ate more sand than crickets so I swapped it out for newspaper until he got to be about12 inches long. Some take longer than others. Carpet is good at getting dingy and pulling toe nails on lizards. Some really big bark is exceptable (if the animal can't eat it.) I wouldn't bother with starting out with a tank any smaller than a 40 gallon breeder aquarium and more than likely the animal will outgrow that. It is best to get all of the items in the terrarium so you can check on your temperatures and humidity level before exposing the animal to it. Don't foget water and food bowls, therm/hygrometers (digital are usually more accurate.) Calcium should be dusted on crickets and GREENS (not lettuce) daily. A multivitamin is good every other or every two days.

Bearded Dragons love LOVE LOVE to watch whatever is going on. Believe it or not, my bearded dragon watches television with me. Try to stick your beardy in a place with a lot of foot traffic. Mine is about six months old and a little bit longer than a foot. Beardies are one of the nicest of all the lizards. Mine runs around my room, but make sure there is nothing small on the floor or within reach, just in case he decides he wants to try it. Have fun with your beardie!
