3)0,-3 all you have to do is put the numbers in the equation and work out if the answer is correct
0times(4times-3 add 12)=0
4 times -3 = -12 add 12 = 0

3 because
-3(4*-3+12)
=-3(-12+12)
=-3*0

Just apply the distributive property

x(4x+12)=0

4x^2 + 12x=0

Set terms equal to each other

4x^2= -12x

Divide by 4

x^2=-3x

At this point, just substitute your choices and you'll find that the second root would be -3.

Now the anal mathematicians and numerical theory purists would have told you to apply the quadratic equation, or to find the imaginary roots (blah.. whatever). If you are doing this for some sort of standardized test (SAT, GMAT, GRE, ACT) just plug in the numbers and don't waste your time.
