I already have a job, but I need to make more money to help my mom pay bills at home ( my dad has abandoned us).

So now I am looking for a second job, but it's not easy. Do you think it's just better to tell the employers that I am applying for the job as a second job?

Or should I lie?

tell them it is indeed a 2nd job. That way they know you are working another and won't demand as much from you. If they think this is your only job, then they will expect you to grab overtime or whatever else.

Normally there is a company policy which never allows the employee to have a second job... check on this first.. Given the situation, i would suggest you to inform both the employers regarding the second job and give them a reason that you are in need of earning the extra buck and so are going to do two jobs.. im sure they will understand the case as a financial need and will cooperate, however be ready to face a little heat coz this is the time they will find opportunity to check your efficiency at work and have a valid reason to point out that you are not interested in the particular task coz you have another job at hand.. Anyways all the best and definitely inform the second employer and the first employer about your plans.. but make sure u give them the reason of financial constriants..

I think you should be up front about it but with the knowledge that it may affect the employer's decision to hire you. Some don't mind but some feel that they will not be getting your full commitment to the second job. If they don't ask you or if you feel it wouldn't be an issue, you don't have to volunteer the info but I would not lie. That will always come back to bite you.

Nobody wants to be second choice. Make sure it's a job you want and when they seem serious about hiring you then tell them.
