If you are proud of your name then keep it.. Who cares what people think of your name.. You could always go by your middle name if you have one.. Or just make up a name and start referring to yourself with that name and ask your teacher to start using the new name.. I think your teacher is rude you should confront your teacher and let them know school is hard enough, you don't them making it any harder.

You can petition the court for a name change but:

I have a name shared by 40% of the male population of the planet. OK so I exaggerate but it sure seems like it sometimes. I think I first noticed that half the boys in my class had the same name about 2 hours into my first day of kindergarten. As I progressed through the grades it didn't get any better. Before long I really hated my name, it was a pain in the arss when 6 or 7 boys all answered when the teacher called MY name.

When I was about 12 ore 13 I decided that if I had children and if any were boys they would have a name of their own, not some sound that half of the male population answered to. That was when I set about searching. I must have read every name in a dozen or more "child names" books in the library, book stores, magazine racks and anywhere else I could find one. Then one day I happened upon THE name. It was in one of those books that listed names along with their meaning. I found a name that I had never seen before and its roots were in the forest. It meant king of the woods or master woodsman. I was hooked on that name.

About 13 years later I named my son. He had very little trouble with it all through school. When he turned 18 I made him an offer. I would pay the cost to change his name. His answer was a resounding NO. He told me it was great that when he heard his name, he knew it was HIS name and not some sound that a bunch of guys would be answering to.

He will be 30 years old soon and during his life so far, he has met one and only one other person with the same name. Oh yeah, he works retail with his name boldly printed on his apron. He told me he has met thousands if not tens of thousands of people. Many of those people comment on his name but only one has ever matched.

I'll tell you, after reading what I just wrote, if I were 25 years younger I would see someone at the court about changing my name.

OK, I didn’t fix your problem. All I did was put a lot of words on “paper?”. But I hope it helps you to understand and accept what I would consider a wonderful gift. You may want to mix in with the crowd but it isn’t going to happen. So may I suggest you stand tall, because you stand alone, alone and proud. The next time Fred makes fun of your name; act confused and ask him which Fred he is. Tell him there are so many you need a score card to determine who is who.

Last thought, you have decided that your parents gave you a lemon of a name. Well, I challenge you to make lemonade.

If you like your name you can just be a sport about it. Maybe make up some additional humorous remarks to go with it. If you don't like your name you might try using your initials. Or your middle name. Or just become famous so that everyone will think your name is cool and name their kids after you. I have an unusual name and some people have laughed at it. On the whole it doesn't bother me. It's a good conversation opener and people tend to remember it better than an ordinary name.

Tell them to get a life.

When I was a kid, my bus driver used to pick on me because I was the smallest kid on the bus. She would get all the other kids to join in and it would make me cry every day. Finally, I reported her to the principle and she stop her crap after that.

But I digress. Telling on people normally does nothing but exasperate the problem. (Unless it’s something really serious like physical or sexual abuse, then you definitely tell!)

Don't let that crap bother you. Don't let them make you feel embarrassed or ashamed. I know it may seem easy for someone else to say that who isn't in your shoes, but these people who get a laugh at your expense do so because they have security issues themselves.

In other words, they feel bad about who they are, so they are trying to make you feel bad to bring you down to their level. Even your teacher aparently has problems with his/her self worth. It is very sad when an adult has to pick on a young person to achieve some kind of validation. Just because your teacher is an adult, does not mean that he/she has it all together.

If it really, really bugs you, you can go to the school counselor, and ask them to intervene with your teacher. Your teacher should be leading with a good example, not by making you feel bad.

I say screw 'em. Enjoy your younger years and don't let these ***-monkeys mess it up for you.

write a letter to the principal or the AP of the teachers class, dont write your name and say that the teachers inability to control himself is unprofessional because he is constantly mocking a peer's name for no reason and that he needs to grow up or be prepared for a parent's teacher's meeting to explain his name because no one finds it funny. Make sure you use the third person like some one else is writing the letter ......I hope you get the bastard!!!!!

You have to remember laughing at yourself might help and its not about your name its about your personality!! Look at the bright side of things instead of the side that puts you down and makes you upset.
