Hi, I am looking for a website or a book on easy instructions on how to embellish recycled glass bottles or bottles found at second hand store for home projects (for example spa bottles that could contain bath salts) using a variety of mediums like clay (mostly) artistict wire etc.
I am planning to give these bottles for Yule presents (Christmas) and have seen pictures in the internet as to how they look finished but I need a place with instructions etc. Is there anyone that knows about this here, please help I'll really appreciate it :) Thanx!

You can make some stunning polymer clay covered glass bottles easily but you will need to learn how to work with polymer clay. Any craft store will have several books on the subject, full of color pictures of projects you can try to copy. The most colorful way to decorate the bottles would be with clay canes...the books can show you how to construct them,it isn't hard with a bit of practice......then apply very thin slices of the canes to a sheet of scrap clay and roll smooth. Then apply to the clean bottle surface. Polymer Clay bonds well with glass but for added security, you can paint a thin coat of white glue to the bottle before applying the clay. Another way to decorate the bottles is by applying small, torn pieces of colorful tissue paper to the glass using Beacon's Liquid Laminate. It dries quickly and clear. After the bottle is covered, thread an assortment of glass beads on thin copper craft wire and wind around the bottle in a random pattern. Also,if the bottles are well shaped and you just want a little embellishment, buy some etching creme and stencils, you can find it all in a kit at the craft store. This is a beautiful, subtle effect on pretty glassware. You can do any size pattern you want and can cut your own stencils using clear contact paper and a craft knife.

you can get some paint (i think acrylic) and do some fancy painting on them. You can have themes for your desk, near your bed, your bathroom to hold your toiletries. If you use the jar with the lid, you can put a piece of colored or designed piece of material and then secure it with a rubberband. you can change that out too. They can be candy jars with stickers, paint, ribbon, etc on it and can even decorate the top with a candy bug made out of pom poms. could be cute. do a love bug one for valentines and a lucky bug for st patty's. they can be gifts or just a cool way to store the goods. you can also put little pieces of folded paper in the jars and use them for acts of kindness, community service, affirmations, something selfless to do or anything you decide. Could be cool and you could probably sell those. Try to fill them up with 365 notes. hope some of these help you decide on the perfect craft for you. enjoy!
