He's gay and was always gay. A priest may or may not have initiated him into the niceties of the lifestyle. It had nothing to do with his liking teen-aged boys other than perhaps giving him permission in his mind to do what he would have wanted to do anyway. But he was essentially a chicken-hawk that tried to raid the wrong coop.

He is pathetic, nobody's buying that, trying to be the victim right off. His timing is all off. It's a wonder he ever got elected, he does not know how to finesse an issue. He should have come out and taken responsibility, apologized profusely.... then he can say he was molested by a priest a few weeks later, then go into alcohol rehab but don't say anything, just let people figure he's an alcoholic. Then the media would move on and the republicans would not be in deep doo-doo because of him. But no, he comes off right away whining poor me, when people are still shocked about what he did. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

He's just trying to deflect blame & attention, much like our very own "Always Right" (nice ironic example in that post, there, AR!) and "aj steele" (so office sex is right up there with pedophilia, huh? I see now how firm a grasp conservatives have on the moral high ground in this country. :P )

There also seem to be a lot of conservatives who somehow think the gay part is worse than the pedophilia part. Even if you believe both are immoral, how do you get your priorities so out of whack like that?

What he said about the priest is possible. What would you do if you did something that many people would condemn you for? Would you be able to stand there and admit what you did, or would you try to deflect the anger in any way possible. Most people would try to deflect the anger and blame others.

Just look at the politica arena. No one takes responsibility for their mistakes. Our esteemed president cannot admit that he was wrong. And, it happens to many politicians no matter their party affiliation.

He's got to blame somebody and priests seem the easiest target that people will believe without question.

he's a republican perv, and trying to set aside the fact that he got in trouble with IMing a Congressional page by blaming it on being abused by a Priest!

I think he needs to go away. I can't believe he is dredging up his past like it's going to make his actions all better. The more he tries to justify his actions, the more pathetic I think he is.

You have to go with the old question "How do you get a nun pregnant?" Dress her like an alterboy.
