You need formal training as a Radiographic Technician, (RT). Usually it's about a two year program with several long intern periods. You will have to learn the entire RT business. Many patients getting CT scans are terribly injured of very sick. You will learn how to handle this and also many of the other medical emergencies that DO occur.

in my 24 years of servicing this type of equipment I have know a lot of RTs and they all like the work. Pay isn't too bad either but it varies greatly depending on supply and demand.

the rad tech program at my school is only 9 months... but i'm not in it so i don't know what else is required....
