Why do i have a french name if i'm not french. My name is half french but that's beside the point. Your parents may have just liked the way it sounded, Not really caring for the origin of the name. My name means the The Dark one, and Of water and wave. Do i look like a black mermaid to you? I don't think so. Just because you are given a name doesn't always depend upon the origin but the meaning. My fiance is named Joseph and he's not too savvy on following religion. But he has a biblical name. Joseph means father to all, leader of small companies, great warrior. That's not a biblical type of thought. It's all about what it means. Go to the link below and look up your name, maybe it'll help you figure out why you got your name.
Blessed Be.

Your parents could have picked a name that they like and name it after you. Everyone has a name, although most people have a vague idea what their own means, but few give them much more thought. Just a bit of info, the study of names is called onomastics, a field which touches on linguistics, history, anthropology, sociology, philology and much more. So no matter whether you are a Christian or not, your parents or someone who could have advised your parents to give you that name must have thought you are a very special boy. So be thankful that you have a name. Goodluck!

We should all be grateful for the Judeo-Christian philosophy that our forebears chose to follow. It has enabled us to develop a culture of tolerance and fairness, and although it is not perfect, when compared to other cultures we are way ahead. To have your first name known as 'christian' name merely acknowledges your cultural heritage.Changing this to 'fore-name ' on the pretence of political correctness smacks, somewhat, of Orwell's 1984.
The religious connotations should not even be considered as a point of objection.

It is just a convention it is in fact your forename. It is only a christian name if you were actually christened that name in a christian church.

For the same reason people name their kids Brianna when they're not Irish, or Denver if they're from Florida. They like the sound of the name.

Ask your parents who gave this name to you. They may have reason. Also you can change your name if you like.
