Measure the mass of the shell. Add dilute hydrochloric acid until there is no more fizzing, and collect all the gas given off. Measure the volume of the gas, which you have to assume to be carbon dioxide. You also have to assume that the shell is calcium carbonate.

I am assuming the CO2 is "trapped" as Calcium Carbonate

You could get a measured amount of seashell and then add dilute Hydrochloric acid. Collect the gas evolved in a gas cylinder.

you assume it's in the form of bicarbonate and titrate it with acid.
