i am concerned of the extra long bus ride from the airport to hotel a lot of people seem to have a lot of complaints about how long it takes , like 3 -4 hrs. because they have to wait for the bus to fill up and then they drop other peoople off at different resorts and they take a long rest stop in between. i am just wondering if booking thru travelocty that you avoid all of this

I have not booked through Travelocity, however, this past July I went to Runaway Bay which is a few miles before Ocho Rios. All of the transportation is the same from Montego Bay airport to the resorts. You get into a small bus that is kind of like an airport shuttle. They don't really wait for the bus to fill up but it will work out that way. They will stop to let other people off at other resorts and there will be a stop about halfway. My guess is that the only way to avoid this is to hire your own taxi. But don't worry about the trip to Ocho. Many of the drivers are very informative and give a running commentary on the country as you ride. The ride will be about 2 hours and not 3 to 4. It is actually a fun ride. The Jamaican drivers are NUTS. It is kind of thrilling. Relax and have a great vacation!

I'm not sure where you heard 3 - 4 hours. Booking online sometimes you never know what you are going to get honestly! Hey I had a woman who booked online for a trip to Cancun and she went down there and well the Marriott she booked, wasn't even open. Well Orbitz is the site and they didn't care about updating obviously and she is still fighting with them. You go through an agent and this will NEVER happen.

Also for the other poster saying Runaway Bay is only a few miles from Ocho Rios, unsure of where they go that. Runaway Bay is about 1/2 way from Montego Bay and Ocho Rios. Takes about an hour and 15 min to Runaway Bay then another 45 min - 1 hour to get to Ocho Rios which depends on your resort. Which 45 min to me isn't a few miles......

May I ask why would you feel by booking through travelocity you would avoid this? Please please consider going through an agent. They can make sure that you are going through a company that provides reputable transfers for you in your package.

If there is anything further I can help you with feel free to email me and I can send you my contact info.

Otherwise have a great time in Jamaica and please remember to book smart. With an online site you have no recourse with them.

Go by bus and no, it's not 3 or 4 hours and the road is improving a lot theses days between Montego Bay airport and Ocho Rios. Taxi would cost a fortune. Mo' Bay-Ocho Rios will be about one hour and a half

If you decide to use an agent, make sure that you have an idea on what the rates are on the internet for when you want to go to make sure they are comprable. I have booked my own packages for years but I would trust an agent before any of the Travelocity or Expedia's. Make sure you have a contact person if any issues come up. The ride is only about 2 hours and you will not avoid it going through travelocity.
