Well, it sounds like you already "have" forgiven this person, but you're wanting to know what to do with the feelings you still have over the "hurt" itself. When you forgive, it is more for yourself than for the person who hurt you. Forgiveness is a good thing, it lightens the burden
off the person who did the hurting, and it makes the "forgiver" more of a good human being. As for the hurt? Forgiving doesn't mean you have to hang out with that person again or at all. But you more than have the right to give yourself an emotional break away "from" that person. Because if you don't, you'll find yourself feeling resentment toward them, and that's not good for either of you. Just take a break, let it go at least for now, okay? And good luck to both of you.

Hi, I know what your going through, I too have a person in my life with a mental illness which is my cousin. You have to remember your friends state. Things may not always go the way you want it to go but try to help him understand how you feel, when he or she makes a mistake. Things will get better over time.

Yes, if I knew for a fact it was due to their illness and not for some other reason and they were just using the illness as a cover up so they could hurt you and get away with it.

Absolutely. If the Amish can forgive a man who killed 5 of their children, who are we to not forgive someone with a mental illness?

Most likely, unless their using this as an excuse too get their way. If that's the case, go along with them and begin reversing the situation.

of course i would forgive them! if i know that they didn't do it purpose but because they're mentally disabled, it's not their fault. they didn't choose to be born that way, so you should forgive them.

Maybe, it really depeneds, what kind of hurt? If they broke your arm or raped you, never ever! but if it was little, yea ofcourse, and if him/her, was your real friend you would not have to ask strangers that. not being rude that is

i dunno. i guess it would depend on what happened. if it was sexual in any form, absoultely not. if it was like hitting someone or telling a secret or a lie, yeah i probably would. But i would try to talk to them and try to get them to understand on some level that what they did was not right and it does hurt people.
