Rich Cubans in America hate him for confiscating their land in the Communist Revolution. The rich always hate that. There are Cubans, mostly poor, who adore what the government did, extending health care and education (today levels are among the highest) to all sectors of society. Still others agreed with the revolution at its genesis and with Communism but came to resent his dictatorial regime, with repression of civil rights. Some feel that Cuba isn't Communist enough, and shouldn't have opened up to some markets in the 1990s. There's a variety of opinions, some based on peoples' own economic desires, or ideology, or personal histories.

The literate, educated, litigated person loves Castro. Whilst his fellow countrymen who is illiterate, uneducated hates Castro because of his ignorance.

Simple: People have differnet views on what is and what is not.
The rich may not care b/c it doesn't matter but, the poor may loath him. It is the same reason why your parents choose one name over the others it is all a matter of opinion.

The ones who hate him realize what misery he foisted upon Cuba with Communism, while the ones who love him are typically still in Cuba and afraid to disagree with him...
