How do I propose to my girlfriend? any ideas?

Thanks. So far I am torn between a hot air balloon ride over the Golden Gate Bridge (i live in san francisco) or getting a whole party together and doing it in front of everyone. imagine her face if i get down and she looks at her family and friends and then down at me on my knee. then there's also doing it in a restaurant in front of everyone, so everyone can hear me propose.
but i really like the hot air balloon idea...

Oh and I already have the ring. It's some kind of uhh...full circle diamond band from Tiffany's in New York. The day I met her i knew she was the one, and i went to New York and to tiffany's and bought it. it cost some big money but it's worth it. it's like a chanel set, watever that is lol. i just know it's a full circle diamond band and it's actually very pretty...and i feel weird sayin the word pretty...lol

OK i was wrong, i checked and it's a full circle diamond band, but it's a sapphire AND diamond ring. it's a band with diamonds, but every other one is blue, and every other one is silver. blue is one of her favorite colors so it looks the best. it's cool. here's a pic here: i got it off the internet, i ordered it and went to ny to get it. lemme know what u think:

I have tons of ideas for proposing, but it all hinges on what you and your girlfriend enjoy. So, if you can add details that might help. Barring that:
You might try the tried & true. Dinner, candles, ring in champagne.
If you're hobbies are horseback riding...then maybe a trail ride to a picnic at a beautiful locale, then present the ring & proposal with a poem you either wrote yourself, or one you find to suit what you want to say.
If you're into sports, like football, etc....sometimes you can get them to flash the proposal on the scrolling screen. That is very publc, though & that could backfire.
Essentially, find what you two enjoy & create an entire situation around the proposal built on that, even right down to hot air balloon rides & asking at altitude.

I think is cute to ask this online. Sweet suggestions:
1)Take her to dinner in a really fancy restaurant, get down on one knee and ask her the BQ
2)Take her to her favorite place and ask her the BQ
3)Gather her family and your family, distract her with someone else who already knows, tell the family, throw a surprise party, so when she enters the room everyone would shout "SURPRISE" and you would be in one knee and pop the BQ.
4)Be creative, you more than anyone know her the best, you should know what she will like. SURPRISE HER. Good Luck MUA

Go to dinner and arrange to have a favorite dessert brought out after the main meal with the ring placed on top of it. (Make sure the ring is visable, you dont want her to choke..) Then when she sees it get down on your knees and take her hand and propose. Be creative and have fun!!

Take her to a very nice dinner, carriage ride, violin player, present the ring to her in a small box, and at the key moment, get down on one Knee and ask "Will you marry me?"

take her to a show or play at a small club and talk to the manager and ask them if they could possibly let you get on stage at the end and propose to her at the end--or ya know how at halftime or the 7th inning stretch at those sports games they have stuff that says "will u marry me susie" or "bob will u go to the prom w/ me" or "good luck on graduateing bill" well u should call the stadium and inquire about them

Well, my wife sat on my chest and grabbed me by the throat and asked me if I was ever going to marry her, so I never had to think up a way to ask her. The old standard is to take her to a nice dinner, with candles and a real table-cloth and ask her over desert.

How about a billboard? Call the 800 number on a blank board and 'pop your question'.
Just go for a drive and see if she notices the billboard.

Take her out to a nice dinner, seranate her with some nice soft music and tell her how much you love her and how you want to spend the rest of your life with her, Then you take the ring out and show it to her.

Buy 11 real red roses and one artificial red rose. Put the artificial one in in the middle of the real ones and on the card write 'I will love you until the last rose dies." Attach the ring to the card and take them to her door.

Try to remember something that she has said to you in the past, like places she would like to visit or things she would like to do. I don't know your budget but... well, can't beat proposing to her during sunset on a Hawaiian beach!
But find out what SHE likes!
