"two jags" also wants to implement Land Grabs across the country - if your house (which you own) has a certain amount of land attached to it, he would like those friendly people at the local council to seize some of it - just enough for a few housing estates of course, you'll never miss it really. (Let's start with his house shall we?)
The other ingenious idea that he has come up with is to seize properties that have remained vacant for 6 months or more - regardless of whether you own it! So what happens to people whose relative has died and they are still deciding what to do with the property? Simple, the council will take it and use it to accommodate people as there is a shortage of social housing. Would you have a say in the matter? Nope. He wants to make it compulsary.
I don't know about other parts of the UK but I am sick and tired of developers in my city building huge office blocks that, when finished, lay dormant for years on end - do we really need more office space if our city is already full of it? How about seizing some of those properties instead?

There are plans being considered for 1,050 new home between Hythe and Dymchurch on an old quarry. That is on a flood plain that the experts say could be under water in the next 50 years.
There isn't enough money to build sea defences along the whole of the East coast of the UK so I think it is fraudulent to sell home that are not going to be able to get insurance and that will devalue over he coming years.
We have all been subjected to water shortages and I wonder where the extra water is coming from.
There has already been thousands or homes built in the Ashford area 10 miles away and many more under construction at the moment.
With Global warming we cannot take fresh water from other area and like you have said birmingham has thrived on Welsh water for years they are not short of water yet but we are not sure how things will change in future years. As the Ice caps melt the Gulf Stream will cool and we could get even more extreme weather conditions in winter and summer.

The government has kept housing in short supply and encouraged debt to manage the economy. The bubble will burst eventually - but is maintained by the housing shortage. they won't build - they will leave young people without homes and get everyone in to more debt - it's always all talk. More doctors? We have GPs on £100K a year and hospitals making nurses redundant - not the ones they imported from the Philippines a couple of years ago though - that would be racist.

Southern Water are seriously talking about building a large desalination plant. They already have a fairly small one in Newhaven.
Re more homes, Brighton & Hove is becoming the place to be in the UK.
As houses are becoming too old to repair anymore they are being pulled down and tower blocks are going up. Not the horrible blocks you see in south London but luxury apartments - very expensive.
Brighton has always been the home of pop and film stars but even more so now.

Yeah... Prescott never had a bloody clue. Do you remember the days when Blair used to say he wanted to make Britain a meritocracy?
I, for one, regret that I have to agree with prince Charles when he said most people in Britain were totally incompetent to do their jobs (or something like that...)
I think it's high time we kick the whole lot of them out. Problem is, what then?
