It's tough touring with younger ones because they get tired in the sun. My best advise would be to get them a pail and shovel and some good suntan lotion and explore the beautiful beach of Cancun. Use the children's pools, let them help you paint by the pool (if you're in a resort with activities). Try to rent a timeshare where you can cook and not have the hassle of lines in restaurants. Go to www.redweek.com or www.tug2.net for rentals.

Cancun can seem like a place where there is nothing to do for a 2 year old, but actually there is. I live in Cancun and I have a daughter that just turned 3.
-La Isla Shopping Center Aquarium

On the hotel zone.
-Wet n Wild water park
On the hotel zone.
-Isla Mujeres
It's a 20 minute ferry ride to an island off of Cancun called Isla Mujeres. When my daughter was 21/2 we took her for the first time, she loved the ferry ride and the island. You can rent golf carts to tour the little island. The have a dolphin discovery there and a turtle park. The beaches there are great too for kids, the water is very calm, it's some of the best beaches in the Cancun/Isla Mujeres area.

Ferry's can be caught from the Cancun hotel zone or Puerto Juarez.
-Xcaret and Xel-Ha
We took our daughter to both. They are parks, like a natural water park. Xcaret has underground rivers, my daughter loved it. Swimming with the dolphins, a lagoon like beach, all types of animals to see, and a night show.

About 45 mins - 1 hour from Cancun.
Xel-ha is a bit diffrent. Huge clear watered lagoon, great for snorkeling. A natural lazy river. Swimming with the dolphins, and animals.

My daughter enjoyed both places. If you plan to go to Xcaret make sure it's on a week day. We went on the week end and it was crowded. You'll enjoy it more on the week day. Xel-ha's swimming area is so huge that even though there's ton's of people you can't tell, because it's a huge area.
About an 1 1/2 - 2 hour drive from Cancun.
-Aktun Chen
It's like a natural zoo in the forest. With animals, underground caves and so much more.

about 1 1/2 drive from Cancun.
Also check for child care programs within your resort. Just in case you and your husband want a couple hours to yourself. The Riu has a great child care program.
Have Fun!!

Take the bus (its really cheap like $1.00 a person) to Xcaret - its a zoo, swimming hole, and great place for kids. The swimming is a shallow lagoon and you can see a butterfly exhibit, panthers, and lots of baby turtles. Its really great, and beautiful. Xcaret is about 50 miles south of Cancun, and the buses are nice and comfortable.

visit an aquarium, zoo, or look for seashells on the beach. Even building sand castles! Kids that age like to touch, feel, count, paste, colour.
